About Ima Dola
Features: Caucasian-White Female, Age 22
Actress: Candace Stimpson
A life-size human gothic rag-doll with patchwork black and white clothing and pink converse, bright red lips, and red stitches/threads on arms, cheeks, and over her heart. She was a girl who loved her father and loved to dance, was graceful and feminine but now she just sits on a bench and blinks day after day waiting to die, controlled by a piece of piano music.
About Candace Stimpson
CANDACE STIMPSON has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Minnesota. As a child she forced her younger brother and sister to perform in her own plays, which she also directed. Since then, she has toured with a theatre company and appeared in a feature film (yet to be released) in Minnesota.
In 2004 she moved to Edinburgh and has appeared in Princes Street Gardens Easter Play, Soulgait (a tour of the spiritual history of Old Town) in Fringe 2006-7, and Velveteen Screen's short film "Little Red," which was featured in Cabtivate cabs all over Edinburgh. In 2005, she wrote, directed, produced and acted in her own show, "In Your Dreams" for the Fringe (she also sang on the soundtrack). She also directed a Cabaret combining poetry, dance, acting, and storytelling. She has spent several years circuiting the open-mic scene singing alongside Chris Brown, and performing her own poetry, comedy, and prose.
Currently, she is co-directing a show for Ankur Drama Company and produced three short films for a conference in the Netherlands. She also co-wrote, and stars in "The Life & Times of a Modern Day Mary," a one-woman-show premiering at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.
